Moving around Venice

The best way to visit and appreciate the beauty of Venice is to move on foot through its Calli and Campielli. For your journey we recommend a map of this great city that, due to its particular urban structure could be quite difficult to explore without indications.

If you want to visit the most interesting sights from a tourist point of view, you can move on foot without difficulties following the directions on the big yellow placards at the corners of the main streets and campi of Venice.

If you prefer no to move on foot it is possible to cover the historic centre easily choosing Venice water public transportation. The Vaporetto, the typical boats, run through the inner city.

Particularly suggestive is the course through the Grand Canal, recommended for those who don’t want to lose the marvellous palaces that overlook it. You can purchase group or individual daily tickets to travel cheaply.

How to reach your hotel in Venice.

Before leaving, have a look at our Venice hotel map to check which is the easiest itinerary and the best mean of transportation to reach the hotel you booked. If you have much luggage and your hotel is located in the historic centre, it is recommended not to move on foot. The best mean to use is the Vaporetto, even if often crowded, or the water taxi, more comfortable but even more expensive. Before leaving get in touch with your hotel to organise your transfer from the airport, from S. Lucia train station or from Piazzale Roma. Many hotels, above those of superior category, offer a transport service for their guests.
