We were a group of 4 and really enjoyed our stay at this hotel (Easter 2010). We had rooms 114 (double and a single bed) and 115 (just double, smaller). Go for room 114! Rooms were clean and tidy, beds comfortable and everything worked. Not AS opulent as pics suggest. TV with BBC and CNN as the only english channels - perfect for while you're getting ready - the rest of the time you should be out exploring! Staff very helpful and friendly. Suggested good restaurants, very obliging and efficient in organising transfers etc.
Hotel stay includes a free transfer and tour of the glass making factory in Murano which I recommend. Interesting, and if nothing else, a cute island to wander around and have lunch on a sun drenched canal. Ask about this - it was organised in 10mins! (No pressure at all to buy at the end). I would suggest getting a 'boat LN' from there (at the lighthouse) to Burano before heading back to Venice, another quaint village with buildings all painted bright colours. Lovely seafood restuarants!
Hotel location is excellent. 2 minutes walk from St Marks Square, and while in the thick of things, just down a quiet alley. We had no noise issues, nor from any neighbours. Breakfast - basic continental. Rolls, croissants, malva toast, marbel cakes, jams, nutella, hotel, cheese&ham/puloni(sp?), yogarts and cereal, and mixed teas and coffee.
If you have the cash, definitely organise a (water) taxi to the airport! (we arrived by train and left by plane) James Bond syle boat hurtling you from the hotel to the airport terminal in 30mins. 100euro. Between 4 it was worth it! The most stress free, easy, fun commute to an airport ever. Alternative is 1h10 on public transport at 13euro each.
